Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain will likely move to a club in Argentina in order to be closer to his seriously ill mother, so the Bianconeri must move for his replacement.

While Juventus may want to keep experienced striker Gonzalo Higuain as a poacher and backup option for forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, it’s more likely for the Argentine No. 9 to move closer to his family this summer. MLS’s LA Galaxy have also been rumored as a fit.

As such, the Bianconeri must think of ideas of how to replace the striker, coming up with creative swap deals in order to circumvent the difficult financial situation in football.

The Old Lady have already been tossing around suggestions to land a top midfielder, as they need a serious upgrade in the middle of the park. Trading Miralem Pjanic to FC Barcelona for Arthur Melo is a possibility, and Juventus are trying to come up with an attractive package deal to reunite with superstar Paul Pogba.

Although midfield is the biggest need for Juve, striker will also become a glaring need if Higuain leaves for Argentina.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, via SempreInter.com, PSG star Mauro Icardi sits on top of Juve’s lists of preferred targets.

This news comes as no surprise. Inter Milan are almost certainly going to sell Icardi, who rehabbed his value by staying out of trouble in Paris and playing at a world-class level for arguably Europe’s best team in 2019-2020.

Icardi’s Ligue 1 campaign is done, so the questions are focused on his price tag and the future. Since there’s no way he stays with Inter and so few teams seem to be genuinely interested, Juventus could be able to swing a deal with their rivals.

Higuain will most likely head to River Plate with his contract running out, assuming Juve cannot convince him to stay. They’ll need to find an experienced upgrade for the position, and Icardi fits the bill talent-wise, though there will be plenty of other questions.

If not Icardi, Juventus could target a younger and more versatile option in Timo Werner, who had a better year in 2019-2020 with RB Leipzig. But Werner has even more interest, including from Liverpool and Real Madrid, so he will be tougher to sign.
