Sandro Tonali should be the top transfer target for Juventus this summer, but Inter Milan aren’t the only team that the Bianconeri must battle with for the midfielder’s signature.
Brescia center midfielder Sandro Tonali is just 20 years old, but he already has shown the tactical and technical traits of a future superstar in Italian football. Therefore, Tonali has received considerable interest from Juventus and Inter Milan this summer, as the two powerhouse clubs in Serie A are busy trying to convince Brescia and Tonali to make a deal with them.
Tonali should cost between 30 and 40 million euros even in the affected transfer market, as he is one of the best young players in all of European football. According to a report from Sky Sports, via JuveFC.com, Inter are in the lead for Tonali, as the player seems to favor the Nerazzurri over the Bianconeri.
However, Juve are very much in the mix and could still give Brescia the better overall package deal. As with their negotiations with Barcelona for another great young midfield target in Arthur Melo, Juve are attempting to make player swaps.
But speaking of Barcelona, they are also reportedly interested in signing Tonali. Barcelona have been pursuing Miralem Pjanic from Juventus and seem to have a deal agreed with the deep-lying playmaker, but they still need to give the Bianconeri appropriate compensation.
Tonali, though, would be a better acquisition for Barça. Like Juve, La Blaugrana need to get younger in midfield, even with Frenkie de Jong and Arthur shining. The likes of Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal are the expendable old guard.
Juventus have the biggest needs in midfield of any of these three teams, but the competition with Inter and potentially Barcelona could be stiff. Tonali qualifies as a dream signing for the Bianconeri, given his upside and ability to be an immediate starter for the Old Lady of Turin.
That said, Gianluca Di Marzio reported, via SempreInter.com, that Barcelona would prefer to do swap deals instead of submitting cash offers, which seems to be Brescia’s preference here (though Juve could offer a prospect to reduce the fee). So that gives the Bianconeri a logistical edge over La Blaugrana. That said, Inter still look like the favorites for Tonali.
