LB Mattia De Sciglio

Mattia De Sciglio is set to start at left back over Alex Sandro, who suffered an injury against Napoli. De Sciglio is probably the most criticized player on Juventus, but he isn’t necessarily bad. The problem for the Bianconeri is simple: they don’t have an actual backup left back, so De Sciglio has to shift to that side whenever Sandro is out or needs rest.

A great defensive fullback, De Sciglio has drawn interest from teams like Barcelona this summer, even as the Old Lady would like to replace him with Chelsea’s underappreciated Emerson Palmieri.

De Sciglio’s poor offensive displays at left back, however, could put much more stress on Douglas Costa to have a big game. That said, his defending could come in handy against Bologna’s top goal-scorer and assist provider, Riccardo Orsolini.

CM Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey is expected to start over Miralem Pjanic against Bologna, and this could be a big return to the starting lineup for the Wales international after the break. Back from injury, Ramsey has the star quality, especially in and around the penalty box, to make a big difference against Bologna’s vulnerable defense.

Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Ramsey could produce some brilliant attacking combinations, providing Costa with more space on the left side to do damage and ease the pressure off Mattia De Sciglio to contribute to the attack. Juve could make some great overloads on the right for Costa to switch it back if necessary.
