Juventus are reportedly more interested in signing Nicolo Zaniolo than Sandro Tonali.
Before Serie A returned, Juventus were heavily linked with Brescia regista Sandro Tonali, as they seemed to be in a bidding war with Inter Milan for the young star’s services. Tonali has been frequently compared to Andrea Pirlo, but it’s been the legend who has distanced himself from the comparisons, full of praise for the youngster.
It seems like Tonali favors Inter over Juve, and now Inter have an even more difficult competitor for his signature in derby rivals AC Milan, who are looking to rise back to prominence under prolific new manager Ralf Rangnick.
Either way, it looks like Tonali is heading to the city of Milan and not Turin this summer if Brescia do get the right cash offer, so Juventus have reportedly turned their focus to someone else.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, via Juvefc.com, Roma attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo is more of a priority than Tonali. And it seems like it’s because Tonali is expected to move to either Inter or AC Milan.
It also makes sense for the Bianconeri to prefer Zaniolo if they want someone more attacking. Arthur Melo is a ball-carrying midfielder and Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to be the regista because of his defensive work. So if Juve see Bentancur in the regista role, they would probably want Zaniolo and could even play him on the right if they can’t upgrade on Federico Bernardeschi.
The 21-year-old Roma star won’t come cheap, since Roma don’t want to lose such a talented player. Juventus may have to pay 50 million euros or more for Zaniolo, but he’s worth it. His dribbling ability is excellent, and he would give the Bianconeri yet another player who is nearly unstoppable on the ball. As long as his creative passing continues to develop and he gets into more dangerous scoring positions, he could be a big star in Turin.
