Juventus are looking at fullback options this summer, and Ajax star Sergino Dest has caught their eye.
Left back is one of the positions of need for Maurizio Sarri and Juventus this summer, and they’ve already been linked to the likes of Emerson Palmieri and Robin Gosens. But they are also thinking of signing a highly impressive young player who plies his trade on the right side of the formation.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport and Corriere Torino, via Juvefc.com, Juve are tracking Ajax star Sergino Dest.
He would be a superior backup option to Juan Cuadrado at right back than Danilo or Mattia De Sciglio, with the latter expected to leave if the Bianconeri can find a suitor.
Dest has been frequently linked to Bayern Munich, though after they signed Leroy Sane, it seems unlikely they will purchase the right wing back.
Meanwhile, money seems to be no object for Juve, who are pursuing creative swap deals to acquire the star players they want, such as when they packaged Miralem Pjanic and 10 million euros to Barcelona for Arthur Melo.
Ajax would probably be willing to sell Dest this summer, but the promising 19-year-old won’t come cheap either. He is coming off a strong season in the Eredivisie with four assists, and he’s the kind of wing back who can take on defenders and bring the ball into the opposition half with ease.
Juventus already have one of Europe’s top right wing backs in Juan Cuadrado, but they may be thinking about developing a young player behind him to eventually succeed him whenever the Serie A legend does decline. It’s hard to think of many better options than Dest, especially if he can progress into a plus defender the way Cuadrado has been for the Bianconeri.
Definitely keep an eye out for more rumors on Dest, because he’s a possibility, even if it’s more likely the Old Lady will have to settle for Emerson.
