Juventus are shopping fullback Mattia De Sciglio this summer, and they should be able to find a suitable landing spot in Spain.
Although Juventus tried to attach Mattia De Sciglio to a swap deal with Barcelona, even asking for Frenkie de Jong at one point, they ended up coming to terms with the long-rumored Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo trade.
Now, Juve are looking for a landing spot for De Sciglio, who is no longer needed at the club. He’s a strong defensive presence, but he is a right back and not a left back, whereas Juve were playing him as a backup left back to Alex Sandro. De Sciglio poor on the left side, and he doesn’t offer enough attacking threat to fit the Bianconeri on the right either.
According to a report from Tuttosport, via TuttoMercatoWeb.com, three teams in La Liga have shown interest in the versatile 27-year-old fullback. Those teams are Sevilla, Valencia, and Villarreal.
At Sevilla, De Sciglio would play a backup role to Jesus Navas, and the team may have a need at left back with Sergio Reguilon on the transfer market. It’s unlikely Real Madrid will loan him to Sevilla for another year if they receive a good enough transfer offer.
It will be more interesting to see how much Valencia and Villarreal pursue De Sciglio. Villarreal have been highly ambitious this summer after appointing former Sevilla, PSG, and Arsenal manager Unai Emery. They added top young player Takefusa Kubo on loan from Real and signed midfielders Francis Coquelin and Dani Parejo at bargain prices. De Sciglio could be a real boost to Villarreal in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
Juventus won’t be picky with offers for De Sciglio. He has no real place in the squad, and the club is looking to sign a better left back to compete with Alex Sandro as the starter for the 2020-2021 season. Emerson Palmieri of Chelsea is frequently linked to Juve, but the Bianconeri could also make a play for a better, younger left back in Reguilon.
