Juventus are still being linked to top forwards in Serie A despite signing Alvaro Morata on loan from Atletico Madrid.
For much of the summer/Fall transfer market, Juventus have been linked to strikers as Gonzalo Higuain’s replacement. Juve ultimately settled on reuniting with Alvaro Morata on a loan deal with Atletico Madrid after previously being linked with the likes of Luis Suarez (now at Atleti), Edin Dzeko, and Arkadiusz Milik.
Morata made a nondescript debut in Juve’s 2-2 draw with Roma. The Bianconeri don’t seem to need any more forwards after acquiring Morata, as they also received Dejan Kulusevski back from an excellent loan spell at Parma.
However, that hasn’t stop Juventus from being linked to top-quality forwards in Serie A.
According to Calciomercato, Il Messaggero report that Juventus offered Lazio 50 million euros plus an additional six million euros in loan fees to sign wide forward Joaquin Correa on a two-year loan deal. The 50 million euros were reportedly an obligation to buy after the loan spell ended.
Juventus don’t need to sign Joaquin Correa
Lazio rejected the deal for Correa, even though Juve were paying quite the sum of money. The Bianconeri also continue to be linked to Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa.
Correa is coming off an excellent season for Lazio as one of their star players in the attack alongside Capocannoniere winner Ciro Immobile. The Argentine winger scored nine goals with two assists in the 2019-2020 Serie A campaign. Per WhoScored.com, Correa won 1.7 dribbles per game with 1.1 key passes per game and 1.6 fouls drawn.
A consistent threat to any defense, Correa is a great player but wouldn’t have really fit Juve. They already have Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, and Kulusevski as wide forwards. Federico Bernardeschi and Juan Cuadrado are also in the squad.
Correa wouldn’t make sense for Juve in this window and neither would Chiesa. Yet the Bianconeri continue to be linked to these talented, expensive players despite seemingly not having the funds to sign a better target in Houssem Aouar.
