Juventus defeated Genoa 3-1 on the road to win their fourth straight match in all competitions.

It wasn’t always pretty, and it took a while for Juventus to find the back of the net at first. But after Genoa equalized, the Bianconeri put two penalties past Mattia Perin to make it 3-1 and seal the deal at the Luigi Ferraris.

Here are the player ratings for Juventus.

GK Wojciech Szczesny

He could do nothing about the goal Genoa scored and had a nice save from a difficult shot from distance. All in all, it was a quiet day for Szczesny, as Genoa barely saw the ball.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

LB Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro was culpable for former Juventus man Stefano Sturaro’s goal. He didn’t have a poor performance, but it often seems like Sandro is left wanting in the critical moments.

Rating: 5.5 out of 10

CB Leonardo Bonucci

No complaints about the performance Leonardo Bonucci had at Genoa. A leader at the back for the Bianconeri, Bonucci intercepted four passes, per WhoScored.com, and was accurate with his passing. More of this, please.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

CB Matthijs de Ligt

With Juan Cuadrado playing high up the pitch and overlapping like a winger, Matthijs de Ligt was essentially a right center back defending the flank. He led the team with 92 passes and completed about 96 percent of them, standing out as something of a tone-setter for the team.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10

RB Juan Cuadrado

Juan Cuadrado drew the penalty that gave Juventus a 2-1 lead, and he also finished first on the team with five tackles. The Colombian right midfielder and fullback has been one of the best players on the team this season. He even had a couple of assist-worthy crosses. Cuadrado wasn’t at his pinpoint best as a creator, but his work rate and overall influence on the team’s attack can never be ignored.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

LM Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa had a few bright moments and finished with a pair of key passes, doing whatever he could to support Cristiano Ronaldo on the left side of Juve’s attack. But in all honesty, this wasn’t Chiesa’s day.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

CM Adrien Rabiot

Another quiet, defensive-focused performance from Adrien Rabiot, who was taken off in the 66th minute for the goal-scoring threat of Alvaro Morata. Before he left the pitch, Rabiot had three tackles and four interceptions. That’s become his role on the team right now.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

CM Rodrigo Bentancur

The midfield duo of Rodrigo Bentancur and Adrien Rabiot is focused on defending, and that wasn’t really what Juventus needed against Genoa, who stuffed so many players in defense. Bentancur matched Rabiot’s defensive contributions with two tackles and five interceptions. But yet again, Bentancur continues to struggle to give Juve any real attacking threat from midfield.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

RM Weston McKennie

While Juventus played a 4-4-2 with Weston McKennie listed as the right midfielder, he would often drift inside and play as a right-sided center midfielder with Juan Cuadrado overlapping freely on the wing. McKennie, for my money, was the best of the three midfielders on the pitch. He had three key passes and some dangerous moments in the box, providing a lot more threat than either Rabiot or Bentancur in a difficult game for the offense. McKennie is becoming a key player for Andrea Pirlo.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

FW Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo had five shots on target but no goals from open play and scarcely any moments of brilliance on the ball. He didn’t do a particularly good job of linking up with his teammates, and he cut a frustrating figure until his penalties. The superstar player did well to convert both penalties and should be praised for his execution from the spot, but this was a below-average performance from Ronaldo.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

Next. Juventus should keep Weston McKennie permanently. dark

FW Paulo Dybala

Paulo Dybala is such an interesting player to evaluate, because there are going to be plenty of highs and lows for an attacking player who takes it upon himself to do so much on the ball. I would say this was Dybala’s best performance of 2020-2021 thus far and an encouraging step forward for La Joya, even if he wasn’t perfect. Dybala got his first goal of the Serie A campaign, going for Mattia Perin’s near post after Perin anticipated another one of Dybala’s curlers following a brilliant solo run. The Argentine forward was Juve’s best source of chance creation with four key passes and three dribbles completed.
