Juventus Transfers: When Juve would like to go for Manuel Locatelli
Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli is one of the best midfielders in Italy, but when would Juventus be interested in signing him?
Juventus have a few quality midfielders in Adrien Rabiot, Arthur Melo, Rodrigo Bentancur, Aaron Ramsey, and Weston McKennie. But none of those players strikes fans as “world-class” just yet, so Juve are in the market for a midfielder who can truly put them over the top.
A reunion with Paul Pogba would be ideal, but that is a difficult operation to pull off and is contingent on both Manchester United’s asking price and their willingness to engage in a deal like a player-swap that can ease the burden on an interested club.
Manuel Locatelli may be the better option. He has helped lead Sassuolo to fourth in the league before the start of 2021, as Locatelli is, even moreso than Domenico Berardi, the club’s superstar player. He is on the radar of every major Italian club, but he seems to be an important target for Andrea Pirlo and Juventus.
According to a report from Romeo Agresti on Casa Juventibus, Manuel Locatelli is going to be a Juventus transfer target in June as a summer 2021 window acquisition. There have been rumblings that Juve could go for a top midfielder like Locatelli or Pogba in January, but it seems like Pirlo will have to wait until June for a major signing in the middle of the park.
The Bianconeri could make smaller signings to bolster their depth, such as a backup striker, in the winter, but June is when Juve will continue to make splashes to increase their chances of winning a Champions League title with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gianluigi Buffon in the side.

Locatelli is only 22 years old, but he plays like someone with decades of experience. He is a great all-around midfielder who can defend well, dictate play with his passing, and even score goals. The Sassuolo star can be a key player for the Azzurri for years to come, too, and Juventus would do well to make sure Pirlo has a true general in midfield like Locatelli.
