As far as the recent reports are concerned, Juventus have failed to sign their forward target on the deadline day of the January transfer window.
The festive days of December and January bring happiness through the stroke of its cheerful events. But not everyone feels lucky enough to hold the warm hands of the festivity during this period—especially not the footballers.
Teams get to deal with the surge of injury crisis during this hectic period when every side is supposed to play twice in a week. Although the scenario here is not as some of the other clubs in the continent, Italian champions Juventus have had their concerns along the road.
On January 10, 2021, Juventus’ superstar forward Paulo Dybala picked up a knee injury in their 3-1 victory over Sassuolo in Serie A. It was confirmed that the Argentinian’s woe would keep him away from the playing pitch “for a few weeks”.
Juventus had eyes on Gianluca Scamacca for weeks
And with Juventus looking forward to taking on Inter Milan in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia this Tuesday, Dybala’s availability still hovers somewhere between being a full fit and carrying a knock.
The ferocity of the congested fixture-list could lessen Juve’s offensive options further, considering they are still battling for these titles: Coppa Italia, Champions League and Serie A.
Therefore, Andrea Pirlo was reportedly interested in landing another striker in Gianluca Scamacca, who currently is on loan at Genoa from Sassuolo. The 22-year-old has garnered six goals and one assist from 16 appearances across all competitions, gradually evolving into a prolific asset for his current side.
While updating on this matter, a reliable Italian source in Romeo Agresti tweeted,
"“Juventus won’t sign Scamacca. Deal is off.”"
It was to be a loan deal. Sassuolo wanted an obligation to buy, while Juventus wanted an option to buy following his potential six-month stay in Turin—and thus refraining from agreeing to the permanent valuation of €25 million Roberto De Zerbi’s side tagged on the striker amidst the winter transfer market.
The Old Lady found Sassuolo’s demands overly ambitious.
And with Genoa failing to find a replacement in time, a potential move, what had somehow looked likely to happen at a time, fell apart.
With now the Bianconeri not bringing in the Roma-born forward on the deadline day, Juventus will continue their march towards the 10th successive Scudetto alongside the other aspirations with what they have under their ranks.
