The story of Juventus offering a contract renewal to Cristiano Ronaldo has already caused quite a stir among their devotees from all around the world.

When Ronaldo lifted his fifth Champions League trophy in the colours of Los Blancos having beaten Liverpool on May 26, 2018, nobody—barring the man himself—might have imagined that people would never see him donning ‘the iconic No. 7 jersey’ again for the Santiago Bernabeu faithful.

It came up as an utter shock for some, while, nearly two months after winning the 13th UCL title in Real Madrid’s illustrious history, Ronaldo put pen to a four-year deal with Juventus. Perhaps nobody would have seen that coming either.

There had been talks of the Portuguese signing a renewal at Madrid one day; and yet, on the next day, he was on the front page of every news outlet, being a Juventus professional. The buzz that the move created was the reflection of the pleasure that the Bianconeri fans endured and the dejection that the Real Madrid enthusiasts underwent.

Juventus are set to extend Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract through 2022-23

Around two-and-a-half-year since that eye-catching switch, Ronaldo has successfully implemented what he was celebrated for doing during his times at Real Madrid and at Manchester United before that.

And as a result of his alluring performances, Juventus are set to extend his stay until June 2023 by offering the recently-turned 36 a new contract, as reported by Tuttosport (via Football Italia).

Since moving to Turin, Ronaldo, despite failing to win UEFA Champions League from two attempts so far, has continued to thrive, accumulating 87 goals 21 assists from just 112 appearances.

Having demolished records after records, he might also like to hit another sooner than later, with the spot for the fastest 100-goal scorer in the club’s history up for grab.

The current holder of the record is a former Juve forward in Omar Sivori, who reached the milestone of 100 goals in just 124 games while donning the jersey of the Old Lady.

dark. Next. Juventus still want Paul Pogba

Therefore, Ronaldo has only 12 games to accomplish another herculean task.

He is set to make the starting line-up against AS Roma this weekend in Italian Serie A. Considering the form the juvenile veteran is enjoying, 13 goals from 12 games should not be much to ask from him.
