Juventus: 5 players crucial to a last-ditch Serie A title push
Following their deflating 1-0 loss to Napoli on the road, Juventus now sit fourth in the Serie A table behind rivals Inter Milan, AC Milan, and AS Roma. The Bianconeri have defeated all three of those teams in their most recent head-to-head appearances, yet they currently sit eight points behind league-leaders Inter.
Inconsistency has been the name of the game for Juve. They are capable of playing lights-out against the league’s elite, but they have also turned in pathetic performances against the likes of Napoli and Fiorentina in 2020-2021.
The title is not out of sight for the Bianconeri, though. Let’s look at five players who are vital to the team’s push for a 10th straight Scudetto.
FW Alvaro Morata
We begin with a game-changing loanee in Alvaro Morata, who has proven to be a Fabio Paratici masterstroke since Juventus acquired him for a reunion tour from Atletico Madrid. Potentially set to join permanently if the buy-option can be negotiated down, Morata has been a source of inspiration for Cristiano Ronaldo with his team-high seven assists in the Serie A campaign.
The key for Morata will be raising his game as a scorer and making sure he is not anonymous against better opponents. For example, Morata was quite poor at Napoli, and it showed in the final scoreline of 1-0.
