Juventus tried to sign Gianluca Scamacca during the winter transfer window, but they found the asking price to be too onerous. Therefore, they balked. Next summer, they could have a bigger need at striker if they cannot convince Atletico Madrid to loan them Alvaro Morata for another year, as that should be their preferred option.

If Juve cannot keep Morata, they may have to go for a more ambitious plan, especially with rumors of Cristiano Ronaldo wanting a move back to Real Madrid. And they seem to have their eyes on two big-name strikers who can take some of the scoring responsibility off CR7, who is averaging about one goal per game in Serie A this season.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Forza Italian Football’s Vito Doria, Juventus are interested in signing either Manchester City impending free agent Sergio Aguero or their former young standout Moise Kean. The latter is currently on loan at PSG from Everton, and, surely, the Parisians will be fierce competitors for the 21-year-old striker.

Juve’s goal is to prove to Cristiano Ronaldo that they have the firepower to compete in the Champions League and win Serie A, with the latter competition finally being in doubt for the Bianconeri in 2020-2021. By signing either Aguero or Kean, Juve would be providing Ronaldo with serious star power in the attack.

Juventus would have a tough time signing Moise Kean over PSG

But can they actually pull off either move? Juventus have been hit hard by the pandemic, like just about every club on this planet. They have huge needs in midfield and will need to spend big to fill them, perhaps even signing two players. Striker is important, particularly if the Morata option surprisingly becomes unavailable, but it is not as pressing as midfield. And I have a feeling Ronaldo is aware of this. After all, an appealing reason for a Madrid move is their elite midfield led by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Between Aguero and Kean, the former would be more realistic to acquire. There will be questions about his form and health, but we saw the way Luis Suarez turned those aside with a change of scenery from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid.

Kean is the more attractive option to Juventini. He has 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season for PSG and looks like somebody’s star striker of the future, whether he ends up in Paris permanently or back in Turin. But he may cost too much money for Juve to afford. Even so, he is worth pursuing, due to his quality in front of goal and future upside. Juventini know what he is capable of.
