Juventus have a major need in the middle of the park, and they will have to address it this summer. The clear favorites are Manuel Locatelli and Houssem Aouar. Paul Pogba is the dream. And there are other names mentioned, such as Mino Raiola client Ryan Gravenberch, who is having an excellent 2020-2021 campaign with Ajax.

And now there is another name emerging on the list. A former Ajax player who shined in the same XI as current Juve standout Matthijs de Ligt. Yes, Donny van de Beek, who moved from Ajax to Manchester United after Real Madrid were honest and told him he’d struggle to get minutes there, is on the Bianconeri’s radar.

According to a report from Tuttosport, via the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are willing to consider a swap deal with Juventus involving Donny van de Beek. The Red Devils would be willing to trade van de Beek to Turin for Adrien Rabiot, who is on the transfer list.

It’s a deal that could make sense for both teams. Van de Beek needs minutes and is not playing much for United. The 23-year-old is simply too good to have only registered 317 Premier League minutes this season and a mere two starts. United could benefit more from Rabiot as a veteran backup, and Rabiot seems poised for a Premier League move with Everton and Manchester City also linked.

Juventus could make a brilliant midfield swap two summers in a row

Last summer, Juventus traded Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona for Arthur Melo, and they have clearly gotten the better end of that deal. And if they can pull off this swap with United, then they will have traded a mediocre, experienced center midfielder for a young rising star who can be a building block for the team.

Van de Beek would be an awesome fit for the Bianconeri, especially if Juve can secure their favored target, Sassuolo’s Locatelli. The former Ajax leader is a great all-around midfielder who is athletic, technical, capable of scoring goals, and incredibly sharp at setting up his teammates. Juve desperately need that kind of quality in midfield, especially when it comes to tangibly helping the attacking players.

These kinds of deals sometimes sound too good to be true, but United squandering a young talent and trading him for a rotational veteran seems entirely plausible. Juventini should think about van de Beek as a top option in midfield this summer, because he could be available in a bargain trade. Like Arthur is better than Pjanic already, the same goes for van de Beek over Rabiot.
