#4 Napoli — UEFA Champions League

Despite being an embodiment of inconsistency at times this campaign, Gennaro Ivan Gattuso’s men have kept the second-best form (after Inter, of course) as far as their recent performances are concerned, drawing just once in their last five league outings.

They have the third-most successful defence in the league, having conceded just 29 goals along the way so far.

With 53 points from 27 matches, Napoli currently stand fifth, but they are only six points behind the 12nd-placed AC Milan with a valuable game in hand.

As a consequence, there is a high possibility that Napoli will finally be able to crack their way to the next season’s Champions League.

The Azzurri are yet to play big guns like Juventus, Inter, Lazio, and an underperforming Fiorentina side during the remaining part of the season. If they do seize the Champions League football, it would be considered a huge success in the short life of Gattuso’s managerial career.

#3 Atalanta — UEFA Champions League

Some might say that we are being too kind to Atalanta. But to be honest, we don’t have another choice. Accomplishments and records have been in the favour of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

Having been knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, Atalanta might reignite their peak frame in the pursuit of a finish among the Champions League spots.

And unlike some other clubs playing in the same division, this team thrives under pressure. Atalanta are the current joint top-scorers of Italian Serie A, alongside Inter Milan, with 65 goals from 28 matches. Their forwards are lethal and know how to squeeze a match of opponents’ grip.

Therefore, they seem to be too good to be missing out on a Champions League spot. If they do, it would likely be due to some unprecedented events rather than their individual errors. Among their upcoming counterparts, Juventus, Roma, and AC Milan are the ones fighting for a European spot this season.
