Juventus Player Ratings from a dreadful 2-2 draw in the Derby della Mole
FW Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo was all over the pitch in the attack, working hard to either pick up the ball on the left, a little bit deeper in the middle, or get open in the middle of the box for a header. He had a couple of good looks at goal, but he frustratingly could not convert. In the end, Ronaldo, a favorite in the Capocannoniere race again, got his late goal to tie the game at 2-2 for Juve after some brilliant movement.
As with Federico Chiesa, you can only shudder at how dreadful Juventus would be without their No. 7. This was not Ronaldo’s best game, to be honest, but the work rate and clutch factor were ever-present. He even had three dribbles completed and a team-high four key passes. A good game in my book, especially when you consider how poor some of his teammates were.
Rating: 7.0
FW Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata was invisible in Juventus’ last game against Benevento, culpable in the disappointing defeat. As I said with Ronaldo, Morata could have been better in this game, and he had a couple of big mistakes. The worst of them, for me, was at the very end when he overhit a pass on a golden, last-chance counterattack. It was an embarrassing pass from a player who you’d expect to make the right decision in that situation.
But Morata did register an assist, three key passes, and three dribbles completed. He did a good job of linking up with Ronaldo and Chiesa, getting out of the way for Chiesa’s opener, too. That made up for his lack of goal threat and his late, errant pass.
