Today’s Juventus Transfer News Roundup breaks down the latest speculation around Paulo Dybala’s future, Alvaro Morata’s loan situation, and more.
But first, we begin with Hakan Calhanoglu. The Milan attacking midfielder has been linked with the Bianconeri for nearly a year, as his contract is set to wind down. And he has still yet to sign a new deal with the Rossoneri despite being key to their Scudetto push earlier this season.
According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, via Football-Italia.net, Milan are offering him four million euros per year, while Calhanoglu would like 4.5 million euros per year. It’s surprising that Milan aren’t speedier to lock their top playmaker under contract, but their loss could be Juve or even Inter’s gain. Both clubs are reportedly interested.
It makes sense for Juve to monitor Calhanoglu, who is one of Serie A’s best. But they don’t have much money to work with this coming summer, so it’s better for them to focus on sparing every cent for Manuel Locatelli or Houssem Aouar in midfield.
Barcelona, PSG interested in Paulo Dybala
The Paulo Dybala rumors continue to swirl at a nauseating pace, but at least this rumor isn’t outrageous like a Mauro Icardi swap or a free transfer to Inter.
According to a report from La Stampa, via Forza Italian Football’s Vito Doria, Barcelona and PSG are both showing interest in Dybala. Apparently Juventus would be willing to sell for 50 million euros, given that Dybala has one year left on his deal.
How realistic would either club be? Not very. Barcelona have no money. For them, it’s Memphis Depay or bust.
PSG could have a forward spot open after losing Kylian Mbappe, but Dybala plays on the opposite side of the formation. He’s unlikely to be the best fit for PSG, though it isn’t outlandish to expect them to have interest. They could try to squeeze him in as a playmaker and start Neymar on the left or simply swap Angel Di Maria to the left so that Dybala can start on the right.
A possible Douglas Costa swap
Juventus will have to sell Douglas Costa this summer, which won’t be an easy task due to his injury history and wages. A return to Gremio is possible, but his wages could be a stumbling block for Costa’s old Brazilian Serie A side.
Per a report from Tuttosport, via Il Bianconero, Juventus want to sign a few young players from Gremio in a possible swap deal: Vanderson, Guilherme Azevedo, and Pedro Lucas. The last of that trio is reportedly Juve’s favored target.
Alvaro Morata’s status, and Atletico Madrid’s wishes
Atletico Madrid own the rights to Alvaro Morata, as much as the player seems to be a better fit in Turin. Juventus can keep Morata for one more year on loan if they pay 10 million euros, or they can buy him permanently for 45 million this summer. The latter option is a no-go due to the price, and even the former may be too expensive for the Bianconeri.
According to Calciomercato.com, Los Rojiblancos see no reason to sell Morata at a discount. They are reportedly willing to “welcome” Morata’s return if Juve do not pay to keep him. But Morata? He prefers to stay with Juve, which is unsurprising.
It looks like we are headed for a game of cat-and-mouse between the Bianconeri and Los Rojiblancos. And if Juve come up on the losing end of it, they can add striker to their list of pressing needs in the summer market.
