Juventus officially sign Sofie Junge Pedersen to contract extension
Ahead of Juventus‘ big fixture on Sunday afternoon against third-place Sassuolo, they have officially announced the signing of midfielder Sofie Junge Pedersen to a contract extension.
Pedersen is one of the best midfielders in Serie A, if not the best, and is an unsung hero who helps make sure the Bianconere are firing on all cylinders. She does an excellent job of controlling games and is one of the hard-working midfielders around, constantly making herself available to her teammates and making plenty of defensive recoveries.
Per Juve, Pedersen’s extension will be for an additional year, so her new contract will run out at the end of the 2021-2022 season.
The 28-year-old joined Juventus in the winter 2018 transfer window from Vittsjo GIK. Pedersen scored three goals in just 776 minutes in her first half-season with the Bianconere. She won the Serie A title in her first two seasons with the club, as well as the Supercoppa. Previously, she was a league champion in Denmark and Sweden.
Sofie Junge Pedersen has made at least three goal contributions in each of her seasons with Juventus
In the prime of her career at 28, Pedersen is on pace to score at least three goals in each of her seasons with Juventus, so long as she scores once more before the conclusion of the 2020-2021 campaign. She has scored twice so far in the league with one assist to boot.
It’s a joy to have such a talented, hard-working, and intelligent midfielder helping to run the show for the best team in Serie A. Pedersen is a big reason why Juve are poised to win yet another league title, as the Bianconere sit first in the league with six points separating them from rivals Milan in second.
Hopefully, Juve can keep her around for even longer. But for now, it is great to hear that the Danish international will spend the 2021-2022 season in Turin after this well-earned contract extension.
