#4 Aaron Ramsey

The midfield appears to be an incomprehensible enigma — you might’ve heard this statement before or rather something similar. The centre of the park that has had witnessed the players like Zinedine Zidane, Pavel Nedvěd, and Andrea Pirlo tormenting their rivals and unlocking their defences is now left bare, waiting to get exposed by a well-orchestrated opposing press. And a defensively unimpressive Aaron Ramsey has been a sparkling figure to further raise that particular issue.

This season, the 30-year-old Welshman, signed for free in 2019, has undergone four muscle injuries, costing him almost nine games across all competitions for Juventus. Though, he has played 30 games — mostly in an attacking role (more like a box-to-box midfielder). But playing in an advanced position doesn’t always mean that you forget to track back and help the team in defence. And even though Ramsey has been found doing his defensive duties, it has never been compelling.

With 2 goals and 5 assists in Serie A this season, Ramsey remains to be another candidate with a point to prove before the season ends. Just like some of the players on the list, Ramsey’s future in Turin is also surrounded by unfathomed clouds of uncertainty. It has become a do-or-die situation for the former Arsenal man.

#3 Arthur

Some of you might have not expected to see his name on this list. But, unanticipated things happen just as Juventus pulled off an absolute shocker by carrying out a swap deal involving Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic last summer. The team that came worse off the move was Barcelona, who consequently faced unbearable public scrutiny. But that is a story for another day.

Arthur’s introduction to the footballing life in Italy has been relatively solid, and he could’ve easily been the top five players for Juventus in a season where most of the stars with commendable pedigree are underperforming. But he is not, perhaps owing to the lack of minutes he has played for the club due to an ongoing fitness issue lately.

Having already made 30 appearances for the Old Lady this season thus far, Arthur Melo will be looking to regain his permanent place in the starting line-up and strengthen his claim on the berth more during this closing stage of the campaign.

Juventus are to play the Coppa Italia final on May 19, 2021. The Brazilian could get the nod ahead of Adrien Rabiot to play alongside Rodrigo Bentancur in the midfield pivot. Furthermore, Arthur’s involvement in helping Juventus secure the Champions League football should be impeccable.
