If center midfield is Juve’s biggest need heading into the summer 2021 transfer market, then left midfielder is not far behind on the wishlist. Juventus really need to cut ties with Federico Bernardeschi, whose embarrassing performance against Udinese is a reminder that it is never going to work out for him in Turin as a starter. He just does not show the quality necessary in the final third.

But you know who has shown an awful lot of quality this season as a regular starting left midfielder? Atalanta’s Robin Gosens, who is still, somehow, one of the most underrated players in Europe’s top five leagues.

Whereas Bernardeschi struggled this weekend, Gosens added his 10th goal of the 2020-2021 Serie A season with his team down to 10 men. The goal, scored against Locatelli’s Sassuolo, was of the acrobatic variety, too.

Gosens has six assists to go with his goal haul, and he is a willing and able defender. Hard-working and intelligent, Gosens is a key player to Gian Piero Gasperini in Bergamo and has all the tools necessary to be a success in Turin.

Could you imagine a Juventus lineup with Gosens and Federico Chiesa on either side, creating chance and playing as two-way wide men? Gosens could very well be an unheralded, missing piece to the Bianconeri.
