Andrea Pirlo‘s status as Juventus’ manager has been the biggest subject of contention around the fanbase, and the same apparently goes for the executives within the club.

Despite an embarrassing 3-0 loss to rivals Milan, in their own home stadium no less, Pirlo has not been fired by the club. In fact, the team seems to support him with confidence, though that, of course, could change if the club officially fails to qualify for the Champions League.

But the apparent confidence in Pirlo is not universal. Pavel Nedved made statements backing the embattled manager, but his opinion is not supported by everyone in the building.

In fact, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Fabiana Della Valle, sporting director Fabio Paratici and Nedved, who is currently the vice-chairman of Juve’s board of directors, had an argument in the parking lot after the match outside the stadium.

Fabio Paratici wants Juventus to fire Andrea Pirlo

The subject of the argument? Andrea Pirlo. Whereas Nedved supports Pirlo, Paratici wants him out. And that led to the contentious confrontation outside the stadium.

It makes sense for there to be such impassioned discussions regarding Pirlo and the future direction of the club. Everyone at Juve is under pressure, including Paratici and Nedved. There is a world in which Pirlo stays and both go, as much as it seems like firing the manager with zero experience is the obvious solution.

Juventus have a lot of work to do. The club has made a lot of mistakes over the last couple of years, and they are finally catching up to them. One of those mistakes was appointing Pirlo in the first place. He simply had no chance with this transitioning squad and his own lack of managerial credibility, even as his footballing credibility is obviously high.

Next. Firing Andrea Pirlo will not solve all of Juventus' problems. dark

We’ll see if Paratici or Nedved wins this dispute, but, ultimately, the real decision will be made by Andrea Agnelli. And he seems to want to give Pirlo the benefit of the doubt after taking such a bold chance on the legendary regista.
