Cristiano Ronaldo

It is the same for the Juve talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo. Signed from Real Madrid in 2018, Ronaldo joined Juventus with an aspiration to lift the Champions League. But it seems as if that dream would remain distant.

Following his €100 million transfer, the Portuguese forward is on the verge of completing his third season in Italy. He has played 130 games and scored around a ton of goals. But, winning the Champions League was the chief reason behind moving to Turin for the five-time Ballon D’Or winner.

At 36, Cristiano Ronaldo might have lost that extra bit of pace, but he still possesses the same lethality and hunger in front of the goal. And depending on those attributes, Juventus have come this far. It would not be too wrong to assert that Ronaldo has been the sole warrior for I Bianconeri this season.

Everything was well and rosy as long as the club was getting positive results and Ronaldo was getting the support of his teammates. But, the situation has changed drastically over the last few weeks. And the five-time Champions League winner is now more disjointed than ever at northern Italy. There have been reports continuously suggesting that Ronaldo is looking to leave Juve this summer.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport (subscription required), Juve could experience a financial loss of around €90 million for not playing the Champions League next season. Selling Ronaldo, who earns €31 million in wages every season at Juventus, would hence ease some financial burden this summer.

Though, Fabrizio Romano claims that Ronaldo will ask to leave himself if Juve misses out on the top four this season. The future of Cristiano Ronaldo seems determined. And that only means the No. 7 shirt of Juventus is on the brink of getting vacated.
