Juventus are one of the most storied clubs in football history, and the goalkeeper position is very much a rich part of that history. Some of the greatest players to ever play the position had their heydays in Turin.

So to kick off our series of the best five Juventus players at every position, it is only fitting that we begin our journey with the man between the sticks.

The rankings are based on a tally of votes. Old Juve writers Jyotirmoy Halder, James Cormack, and myself voted on the top five players at each position, with the first place vote getting five points and the fifth getting one. We then counted up the points and ranked an overall top five.

5. Stefano Tacconi

Although Stefano Tacconi started playing for Juventus about a decade after his senior debut, he spent that next decade playing for the Bianconeri. Tacconi made 254 appearances for Juve, all told, meaning more than half of his career appearances at the club level came with the Turin giants.

The man who replaced Dino Zoff, Tacconi had quite the career at Juventus himself. He won two Serie A titles, the UEFA cup, the Coppa Italia, and a handful of other titles.

A classic goalkeeper and shot-stopper, Tacconi became an inspirational figure in between the posts for his command of the back line and his propensity for coming up with game-saving stops in the biggest of games. In short, he epitomized everything it means to be a Juve goalkeeper.
