Juventus will lock horns with Atlanta on Wednesday evening. This Mapei Stadium will be the stage. And the prize will be the coveted Coppa Italia title. The Bianconeri reached finals last year as well but failed to cross the decisive hurdle. They lost to Napoli, who overtook Juventus on penalties.

Juventus have not won the Coppa Italia title since winning last in the 2017-18 season. That was Juventus’ 13th Coppa Italia. In an attempt to make it 14, the Old Lady will take the field, where they recently thrashed Sassuolo by a 3-1 scoreline. That result would surely give motivation to the Juve players. But will that be enough? Since they are up against a well-drilled Atalanta side, one could expect a fascinating contest on Wednesday.

Let’s take a look at three reasons why Juventus should win the final against Atalanta.

Coppa Italia final to have an impact on Andrea Pirlo’s future at Juventus

Andrea Pirlo has been the manager of Juventus for almost a year now. He has helped Juve win the Supercoppa Italiana this season. And there was a time at the initial phase of the 2021 calendar year when it looked as if Juventus were improving. But things have gone south since then.

The Juventus boss has had been under pressure ever since getting knocked out of the Champions League. Not only the appalling results against Porto, but Pirlo’s team has dropped silly points in Serie A. As a result, they are now on the cusp of missing out on the Champions League football next season.

This game against Atalanta could decide the future of Andra Pirlo in Turin. A poor result could see him getting the sack the next day. On the other hand, a decent result could buy him some more time at his job.

The pressure is immense on Pirlo’s shoulders. And the stress could mount further should another damaging outcome arrive from Wednesday’s game. We have already heard some rumours about Zinedine Zidane or Max Allegri becoming the next manager of Juventus.

The Bianconeri hierarchy would get an easy excuse of cutting Pirlo off the list should they lose the game against Atalanta. And henceforth, there is a possibility of Andrea Pirlo showing his real grandeur on a bigger platform.

Saving the job should act as an incentive for the former regista. Now, the rest is up to the players who will show whether they care enough about their manager’s ambition or not.
