4. Moreno Torricelli

The Erba-born full-back signed for Juventus back in 1992 and played six seasons under the shade of the Old Lady. With a body frame of 6 ft, Moreno Torricelli startled Juventus management via a sublime performance in a friendly game against the Bianconeri in 1992. Torricelli was playing for Caratese.

Juventus’ then-manager Giovanni Trapattoni was so moved by Torricelli’s performance that he immediately decided to obtain his permanent services. Aerially strong and physically active, Torricelli soon started making his mark, becoming a starter for the club just a few months after joining the club.

Previously a carpenter, Torricelli became a fan favourite and a likeable candidate in the dressing room. Roberto Baggio would embrace him with the nickname “Geppetto”. With Juve, he went on to win three Serie A title, one Coppa Italia, two Supercoppa Italiana, one very precious and rare Champions League, one UEFA Cup (currently the Europa League), and a UEFA Super Cup. In terms of trophies, one can imagine that he has an adorable cabinet.

But the right-back, as it usually goes, did not get enough praise for what he had done for the Piedmontese club. He played around 230 matches for Juventus, marking around 40 matches per season over the six seasons he was in Turin. Moreno Torricelli was a man of bold attitude and the one who gave everything to accommodate Juve’s causes, confirming again that hard work is the key to all success.
