Juventus: Ranking the five best full-backs of all time
2. Antonio Cabrini
Considered one of the best full-backs of his generation, Antonio Cabrini was a representative of the golden era in Italian football. He was a glowing member of Italy’s World Cup-winning team in 1982, and, in fact, is the oldest candidate on this list.
Famous for his attacking prowess, Cabrini joined Juventus from Atalanta in 1976. The stats from Transfermarkt suggest that he played 440 games and garnered around 53 goals and 7 assists for la Vecchia Signora.
With a star-studded Juventus side including Dino Zoff, Claudio Gentile, Marco Tardelli, Gaetano Scirea, and Gian Piero Gasperini, Antonio Cabrini went on to win six Scudetti, two Coppa Italia, and one European Cup.
The stories that go around him indicate that despite achieving such comprehensive height with the club and country, he never forgot his roots and was one of the most polite and disciplined bodies in the dressing room. It has also been told that he has never smoked or drunk alcohol due to those disciplinary bars.
However, on the pitch, he was an aggressor, running down the flank and throwing the bodies in the line of fire. He was remarkable going forward and had an extraordinary ability to hit the target from distance.
Born in Cremona, Antonio Cabrini, however, is known to the world for his involvement with the national side. He scored nine goals for them, still holding the record of the most goals scored by a defender.
