Dejan Kulusevski sends another gentle reminder

2019-2020 Serie A MVP Paulo Dybala had quite the creative performance on Serie A’s Matchday 38, but so, too, did last season’s outstanding young player of the campaign, Dejan Kulusevski.

The former Atalanta and Parma man was decisive in the Coppa Italia Final, and he continued his good form by rewarding Andrea Pirlo’s faith in him with an excellent, active display in the win over Bologna. He was unlucky not to have scored, but he did conclude the night with an assist.

Kulusevski, according to WhoScored.com, recorded four key passes and was a constant creative threat throughout the match. He always seemed to slip into spaces and beat so many defenders in tight areas, holding the ball just long enough to feed Alvaro Morata and Dybala.

There were some Juventini who started to criticize Kulusevski during some of his low points this season, and he, admittedly, had some shocking performances in the last couple of months. But it would have been very unwise to turn on Kulu for a few bad matches. The 21-year-old is clearly a big part of the future at Juventus, and I have to praise Pirlo for showing faith in him in these big matches. Kulusevski rewarded his manager handsomely in this must-win Serie A match.
