Juventus may consider keeping Andrea Pirlo

Who would’ve thought that the ones once reprimanding Andrea Pirlo and wishing for his dismissal would ultimately become his fans at the end of the campaign? You might be a die-hard fan of the regista if you are the one to raise your hand at this question.

The Bianconeri can play beautiful, watchable football with Andrea Pirlo at the helm. And the last four games, each one after the catastrophic defeat to AC Milan, gives solid evidence to that conviction.

People close to the club might’ve lost their faith in Andrea Pirlo after Juventus lost 3-0 to AC Milan. But the long-haired gaffer never lost his faith in his conventional 4-4-2 formation. Making a few changes in personnel, Pirlo has shown his doubters that they were wrong. Juventus can play destructive football with high intensity.

Now, the brouhaha about Pirlo’s future around Turin must stop. Yes, winning the Champions League was his primary target and getting his hands on the Serie A title was his secondary objective. Neither did he achieve the first, nor did he came close to securing the second.

However, after winning two titles in Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia, he should not be relieved of his duties. The standard should be higher but not higher enough that would prove to be unattainable even to the best of the best coaches in the world.

He has given Juventus the Champions League football with a comparatively substandard squad, now he should be given another chance to establish his demeanour at the helm. He has a dream, and the Juventus hierarchy should give that another try. But if he is to leave Juventus this summer, the 2020-21 season, nevertheless, will mark his successful stint as a Juventus manager. It has really been a success. And people will know that he certainly has the spur inside him to coach a big, ambitious side, like Juventus.
