Cristiano Ronaldo (ST)

Many believe that Cristiano Ronaldo has lost his aura, his tendency to humiliate a defence singlehandedly. The 2020-21 Serie A season has proven that the very consideration might be wrong. Top scorer in the Italian first division this term, Ronaldo scored 29 goals from only 33 appearances for the Bianconeri.

Not only did Cristiano Ronaldo look rampant inside the box, but his leadership qualities in the dressing room and on the pitch helped Juventus massively when the squad felt the need for some extra motivation. Scoring 33 goals across all competitions, Ronaldo has shown his mettle. His goalscoring number for the 2020-21 season is so good that a vast contraction of number has become apparent between him and the second Juventus player on the list, Alvaro Morata, who scored 17 goals.

Should Cristiano Ronaldo leave Juventus this season, it would be discouraging for the club and their fans. But if he decides to stay put, Serie A might get to devour the sweet fruit that the gigantic name of Cristiano Ronaldo bears for the foreseeable future.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Titled as the most valuable player in the Serie A 2020-21 season, Romelu Lukau was five goals shy of catching Cristiano Ronaldo for the Capocannoniere accolade. Nevertheless, the Belgian international eventually got to lift the first league title of his professional footballing career with Inter Milan this term.

Logging 24 goals and 11 assists from 33 games this season in Serie A, Lukalu represented his monstrous attitude in front of the opposing net. Physically dominant, Lukaku was hugely availed by the two-man forward-line in Antonio Conte’s conventional 3-5-2 formation.

That said, the improvement that was immensely noticeable in Lukaku’s individual game was in his matured link-up plays with other team members. Previously regarded as an out-and-out target man, he would drop deep and help the team in the build-up, manoeuvring the play sometimes, mostly guiding the ball to a safe foot, or finding someone with the width down the flank. And this is the very reason why he has 11 assists to his name this season in Serie A.
