It was a bittersweet Friday for the Juventus community. Although most of them were aware of what was going to come, it felt strange when the decisive hour finally hit reality.

It was officially confirmed by the club that Andrea Pirlo had been relieved of his duty, and in his place, Massimiliano Allegri would take charge of the managerial role (yet again) from the next season.

The arrival of Massimiliano Allegri had already raised the spirit of the Juventus enthusiasts, and then came the news that has left many in utter awe.

Juventus want to keep Giorgio Chiellini next season

As per the report from Calciomercato.com (via Football Italia), Massimiliano Allegri’s sudden return to Juventus’ helm means Giorgio Chiellini might want to stay put in Turin. The report claims that the Piedmontese club is pondering upon extending the veteran’s stay for another year.

It was previously thought that Chiellini would leave the club after his current contract at the Turin-based club expires in June 2021. Though, it was unclear whether he was going to hang his boots or keep on challenging his age by remaining in the competitive scene. Well, if he stays at Juventus, it means that his intention is to pursue the latter.

The story suggests that Chiellini will be given a clause that would allow him to join the club’s managerial staff following his retirement in 2022. However, it also insists that Chiellini, in his supposedly new contract, will earn considerably less than what his contract currently awards — which is around €3.5m per season.

Signed from AS Roma, the Pisa-born centre-half has been a legendary figure in Turin, often considered one of the best to play for the Bianconeri. Over the 16 seasons in northern Italy, the 36-year-old cunning tackler has made over 500 appearances for the club, winning a plethora of trophies for the Black and Whites.

Chiellini’s likely stay might hit hard on his pocket, and the club and its supporters will be blessed enough to feel the warm embrace of the Italian legend for maybe one more season.
