“The return of the don”, some of the overenthusiastic Juventus devotees keyboarded, after seeing the official confirmation of Massimiliano Allegri‘s return to the throne at the Piedmontese club. Arguably one of the best managers in the history of the Bianconeri, Max Allegri replaced his former pupil in Andrea Pirlo, hoping to re-run the success that Juventus enjoyed during his first stint in Turin.

Success doesn’t come easy. To pursue success once again, the current Juve squad needs serious chopping and changing. Selling the players would mean the acquiring of the requisite transfer fund amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have already done a piece on the players who should stay at the club under Allegri despite reports claiming otherwise. Now, let us take a look at the three professionals who need to leave the Serie A side this summer.

#3 Mattia De Sciglio

The winner of three Scudetti, one Supercoppa Italiana, and one Coppa Italia with La Vecchia Signora — Mattia De Sciglio should board the train along with the players departing Juventus in the forthcoming summer transfer window. The full-back has no future in Turin, and especially under Massimiliano Allegri.

On loan at Olympique Lyon from Juventus, De Sciglio made 33 appearances last season across all competitions in France and did relatively well.

The full-back is likely to stay in France beyond the summer, with his current loan deal holding the option for a permanent buy. Returning to Juventus would only mean challenging the likes of Juan Cuadrado, who recorded 10 Serie A assists last season, and Danilo, who was also very consistent, versatile, and integral to Andrea Pirlo’s plans last season.

Although the manager has changed, the Old Lady will not surely be thinking about putting any of the two on the transfer list. It only suggests that there would be no salvation at Juventus for the former AC Milan prospect.
