Juventus: Ranking the top 5 centre midfield transfer targets
#4 Saúl Ñíguez
The next on the list is Saúl Ñíguez of Atletico Madrid. Notable for his ball control, tireless work rate, and assertive displays, Saúl could eventually be a worthy addition to this Juve side. But is he the priority for the Serie A club this summer? It is hard to believe.
Atleti have toppled Barcelona and Real Madrid to win the La Liga title last term. But that accomplishment might not stop Saúl from making a move away from the Spanish capital this summer. Despite playing 41 games last season, Saúl seemed far from convincing with his positioning on the pitch. And therefore, the 2020-21 season was one of his least productive seasons as far as the goal contributions are concerned.
He got success in scoring just two goals and pocketing one assist, and it has apparently frustrated the Spaniard as well. A report from Calciomercato believes that the signature of Saúl Ñíguez would cost his admirers a transfer fee of around €50 million, with the Rojiblancos asking for nothing less than €70 million, which, if we are being honest, is an example of daydreaming in today’s pandemic-impacted market. Plus, Saúl Ñíguez is not thought to be Juve’s top priority this summer.
On the other hand, the idea of including one of Paulo Dybala and Rodrigo Bentancur has also been mentioned, with Diego Simeone being a huge admirer of both South American prodigies. Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint Germain are also said to be in the transfer battle, which makes this story more fragile from Juventus’ perspective.
