Juventus: Ranking the top 5 centre midfield transfer targets
#2 Paul Pogba
When is this Paul Pogba saga going to end? — the fans of three clubs (Manchester United, Juventus, and Real Madrid) have been waiting for a definitive answer for ages. Pogba, now 28, gets featured at the front page of every sports outlet more frequently nowadays not for his performances on the field but more for the uncertainty around his future at Old Trafford.
As things stand, Pogba’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to run out in June 2022, meaning he will be free to sign for any club of his liking. No transfer fee will be charged, although Mino Raiola, possibly the most influential man in today’s football world, might bag a substantial amount in agent fee.
Juventus have been keeping tabs on Pogba for the last two or three years. And alongside Real Madrid, the Bianconeri have always got mentioned whenever the future of Paul Pogba has been discussed. Zinedine Zidane’s departure from Real Madrid has left the gate ajar for Juventus, who are now believed to the favourites to land their former midfield maestro.
Having made 42 appearances for Manchester United and logged six goals and nine assists in the process, the French international had a pretty decent 2019-20 campaign for his club. Manchester United want to keep Pogba and are ready to offer him a contract renewal. But Pogba, who has the ambition of winning more trophies, might not want to stay put at Manchester and try his luck somewhere else, possibly at Turin again.
According to AS (a Spanish outlet), Juventus are open to making a swap deal between Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. Ronaldo is also understood to be considering leaving the Bianconeri this summer, and a return to Manchester United for the Portuguese phenomenon could well be on the cards.
