With the murky depths of Europa League football emerging as a humbling reality, never before have Juventus fans and club members been so appreciative of a fourth-place finish in Serie A.

A battling epilogue to a previously torrid 2020/21 campaign ensured Juve emerged with the majority of their self-respect and pride intact – FROM AN ON-FIELD PERSPECTIVE ONLY -following a decade of Calcio subjugation. The Bianconeri’s impressive conclusion forced Andrea Agnelli into a tough decision regarding the promising Andrea Pirlo, but the temptation of old friend Massimiliano Allegri proved overriding.

The six-time Scudetto winner is back in Turin after a brief absence as both Maurizio Sarri and Pirlo failed to satisfy the bosses in their respective spells at the helm. Allegri’s return combined with Antonio Conte’s exit from the champions hands Juventini a distinct sense of optimism for 2021/22 as the club seeks to re-establish itself as Italy’s premier force.

While both Sarri and Pirlo stumbled upon a few teething issues, there’s no denying the talent within the Juventus squad and should they bolster in a couple of key areas this summer, they’ll be in a prime position to swiftly usurp Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri.

We’re set for an interesting summer post-Euros on the transfer front in Turin, that’s for sure. Although, wild investment shouldn’t be expected in the context of a COVID-impacted financial climate.

Nevertheless, here’s our way too early predicted Juventus XI for next season taking into account potential transfers and Allegri’s ideals.

GK – Wojciech Szczęsny

It appeared inevitable at one point that the precocious Gianluigi Donnarumma would end up at Juventus this summer but the Italian has opted for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, ensuring that Szczesny retains his status as the Bianconeri’s number one.

The Pole endured an indifferent campaign last time out but he was by no means disastrous. Nevertheless, this feels like a make-or-break year with the club poised to sign a replacement for the departing Gianluigi Buffon.
