1. Alessandro Del Piero —  Juventus’ best of the best

Alessandro Del Piero — who doesn’t know this name! An absolute legend for Juventus, Del Piero joined the Piedmontese club in 1993 from Padova and went on to play 19 regular seasons for the Serie A club. He would’ve desired to play more had he not been released by the club in 2012.

During his time in Northern Italy, the diminutive playmaker, completing the highest number of matches (705) in the Bianconeri shirt, found the back of the net 290 times — which remains the club’s record for Juventus’ all-time top scorer.

Del Piero was a very cunning outlet on the field and the one defenders would find too hot to handle. Known as “fantasista” in Italy, he was a joy to watch. His swift-footed attitude in front of the goal and flamboyant technicality made him irresistible. He would riggle past the backline as if he was the king of the arena and the defenders must know that.

Del Piero was a dazzling part of Italy’s World Cup-winning side in 2006. With Juventus, however, his winnings are far greater. He won every piece of silverware with Juve, with six Serie A titles and one Champions League being the highlight of his career.

Del Piero was included in the Italian Football Hall of Fame in 2017. One, aspiring to be the legend of the game, must follow and try to emulate the career of Alessandro Del Piero, arrogant pain in the backside for opponents but a loyal servant for his club and country.
