Juventus: Ranking the Bianconeri’s 5 best strikers of all time
2. David Trezeguet
Born in Rouen, France, David Trezeguet embarked on his fairy-tale journey from Platense in the Argentine Primera División. Signed by Juventus from Monaco in 2000, Trezeguet made an instant impact, scoring 14 goals in his first season in Serie A despite playing as a second fiddle to Filippo Inzaghi. In his second season in Turin, he shifted the gear, becoming the top goalscorer in Serie A that season having netted 24 goals from 34 matches.
Under the guidance of Marcello Lippi, he won Serie A Footballer of the Year and Serie A Foreign Footballer of the Year award in the same season. Many came to believe that the Frenchman had gifted pace and instinct in front of goal. Assertive in the air, Trezeguet soon became one of the best strikers of his generation.
Completing 320 appearances for Juventus, he found the back of the net 171 times throughout his professional career at Piedmont. He could’ve recorded more goals to his name hadn’t he been sidelined more regularly through various injury issues. With Juventus, Trezeguet won two Serie A and one Supercoppa Italiana.
With France, however, his winnings were much greater and more significant. In 1998, he bagged the FIFA World Cup while playing in a luxurious French national side. In 2000, France was crowned as the champions of the European Championship with Trezeguet contributing with two goals for his national colours.
