1. Giampiero Boniperti, Juventus fans will remember you!

No, it is not an elegy but a celebration of eternity. On a saddening note, Giampiero Boniperti left the world with all the warm affection and love on this very day. And we must mourn the death of perhaps the greatest striker the Juventus football club has ever got the chance to link their name with.

The holder of Juve’s all-time top scorer for more than 40 years,  Boniperti, as mentioned before, was a crucial part of Juve’s one of the best trios of all-time, if not the best. With Omar Sívori and John Charles, he subsequently built a triumvirate appreciated as “The Holy Trident”.

Boniperti joined the Old Lady as a teenager and kept on playing until the day came when he ultimately hung his boots. He was once the most appearance-maker for the club with 443 games to his name and also Juve’s all-time top scorer. Later, Alessandro Del Piero went on to best his records in both departments.

Quite a leader in the dressing room, Boniperti became the champions of Italy five times during his playing days with Juve. Top scorer in the 1947–48 Serie A season, Boniperti was included in the Italian Football Hall of Fame in the year 2012. Ten years after his retirement from professional football, Boniperti joined Juve as one of their honorary chairmen and kept on building upon his legacy. May you all behold his legendary quote, “Winning is not important, it is the only thing that counts!”
