At a time when the Italian contingent is tearing every opponent apart in the ongoing European Championship, talking about club football and their forthcoming prospects don’t make much sense. But when the story revolves around a cult hero of one of the biggest clubs, if not the biggest, in the land, it is worth mentioning. Federico Bernardeschi has had been a divisive figure around Juventus amongst the fans and the pundits. “Should he continue with Juventus?” is a question that has been popping up in every Bianconeri-oriented discussion here and there.

They ask; they discuss; some of them nod to the fact that he hasn’t done anything to warrant another year of salary from Juventus, and, on the other hand, some ambitious Bernardeschi devotees keep on backing their favourite star. But most of the time, a constructive debate ends up with nothing serious. Well, for those who have been keeping their faith in Federico Bernardeschi for a long time, we have a piece of good news to offer.

Federico Bernardeschi might end up staying at Juventus

When it comes to the Italian transfer news, Sky Sports Italia is ranked amongst the very best and reliable publications. And this time, their reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, as confirmed by Bianconeri Zone, has claimed that Federico Bernardeschi hasn’t got an offer on his table from an interested party this summer so far, meaning he might end up staying in Turin for another season.

If we sum up the situation, it appears that no team is willing to buy Federico Bernardeschi, which is sickening because he is only 27 and was touted to be the next biggest thing in Italian football not so long ago.

And considering the fact that Juventus will be needing money amidst the pandemic-impacted transfer market, selling Federico Bernardeschi this summer was previously thought to be a guaranteed way of recuperating some solid cash. It also could be Juve’s last chance to get some cash from Bernardeschi’s departure, with his contract at Piedmont expiring in June 2022.

Juventus signed Bernardeschi from Fiorentina for a reported transfer fee of €40 million in 2017. During his time at Juventus, he has covered the tally of 147 appearances for the Old Lady, logging only 10 goals and 18 assists in the process. The numbers are not exemplary as those should for a Juventus prodigy. And, the majority of the fanbase are rightly asking for his banishment this summer.

From past experiences, we all know how unpredictable a summer transfer window can be. While there is still a glimmering hope that he would be able to rejuvenate his dormant Juve career under the man who felt the need of craftsman’s assistance back in 2017, the Bernardeschi-outers might be hoping that teams are perhaps waiting for the European Championship to finish before making any concrete attempt to obtain the playmaker/winger’s services this summer. Let’s begin the debate then: “Should he continue with Juventus?”
