Juventus have confirmed the loan departure of Marko Pjaca to crosstown rivals Torino.

Pjaca appeared in Juve’s pre-season victory over Cesena on Saturday, but it was clear that he wasn’t a part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for the 2021/22 season.

It was Allegri who brought him to the club from Dinamo Zagreb in 2016, but injuries prevented the Croat from blossoming in Turin. He’s made just 21 appearances since his €23m arrival, spending the vast majority of his Juve career out on loan following his cruciate ligament tear in March 2017.

Pjaca’s enjoyed spells at Schalke, Fiorentina, Anderlecht and Genoa, but he’s failed to recapture the form that he manifested in his homeland as a youngster.

Torino loan confirmation

Pjaca’s loan to Torino had been widely reported across various Italian outlets, with the club finally confirming the move on Wednesday afternoon.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Marko Pjaca will play at Torino next season after his loan move across the city was made official. The loan deal will be valid until 30 June 2022, with the right to redeem.

“Born in Zagreb in 1995, Pjaca joined Juventus in 2016. He has spent the more recent years on loan to Schalke 04, Fiorentina, Anderlecht and Genoa.

“Good luck for this new adventure, Marko!” Juve concluded.

The 26-year-old enjoyed his most productive season since 2015/16 at Genoa last time around, making five goal contributions in 35 Serie A appearances. While it’s incredibly unlikely that he’ll ever make the grade at Juventus, it’d be great to see Pjaca blossom – even if it is at rivals Torino!
