The progress and success Atalanta have embarked on over the last few years is beyond explanation. Once considered the minnows of the Italian top-tier, Atalanta are now deemed to be one of the most exciting and watchful teams across Europe.

They play with fast transitions and a high-line defence. In Serie A, Juventus were unable to beat La Dea last campaign. So, nowadays, there always remains a matter of suspense whenever these two Italian teams lock horns.

The same could be seen in the game on Saturday. After allowing Serie A’s best defender for the 2020/21 season, Cristian Romero, to leave for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, Atalanta moved swiftly to sign Merih Demiral on loan from Juve as the Argentine’s successor. Perhaps Atalanta’s new Turkish defender will be in action against the Bianconeri on Saturday night.

It has been a topsy-turvy pre-season for Gasperini’s men, with Atalanta losing one game against West Ham United, drawing one and winning two matches thus far. Like Juventus, Atalanta will also be playing their final friendly before their season kick-starts with a fixture against Torino, another club from Turin, next Saturday.

The club from Bergamo finished the last Serie A season with the same points (78) as Juventus. This time, they will surely be targeting the Scudetto. But are they prepared to do so? We will get a slight hint on Saturday.
