We’re just a matter of days away from Serie A returning to our television screens, people. In short, it’s the most exciting time of the year.

The upcoming 2021/22 iteration of the competition is rife with narratives; how will Massimiliano Allegri fare on his Juventus return? Will Inter be able to hold onto their crown? Can Luciano Spalletti and Maurizio Sarri respectively guide Napoli and Lazio to the promised land? Then, there’s the return of Jose Mourinho.

If only Antonio Conte was still in Milan, eh.

Things are about to get dramatic and a rollercoaster of a campaign is inevitable as supporters return to home stadia all over the country. What a sight that’ll be.

Nevertheless, with the new campaign upon us, it’s only right that a couple of writers manifest their egos and attempt to foreshadow the near unpredictable. That’s right, here are the Old Juve team’s (myself and Jyotirmoy Halder) Serie A predictions for 2021/22.

There’s a lot to get through. So, enjoy!

James – Inter Milan

Despite the mass exodus that’s occurred at Inter this summer, the Nerazzurri are still the team to beat and are now coached by a mini Antonio Conte in Simone Inzaghi. While Romelu Lukaku is irreplaceable, Inter have done a superb job in bringing in an Achraf Hakimi replacement. Denzel Dumfries differs from the Moroccan but is set to thrive in Italy under Inzaghi. Their imperious defence remains intact, as does their superbly balanced midfield. I think they edge a thrilling title race with Juventus, whose lack of depth in defence will eventually prove costly.

Jo – Juventus

With Massimiliano Allegri back at the helm and Cristiano Ronaldo subsequently deciding to stay put at Juventus (for maybe another season), it seems as if the Bianconeri are destined to savour the triumphant vibes of winning the Scudetto this season. Allegri knows the formula of making Juventus the champions of Italy. With Inter Milan, on the other hand, losing Antonio Conte, there is a positivity among the fans that this season’s Serie A title will eventually return to Piedmont. The road to success might be bumpy, but Juventus are somehow anticipated to fulfil their ambitions.
