Juventus have officially announced the arrival of teenage Brazilian striker Kaio Jorge from Santos.

The Bianconeri beat out the likes of AC Milan and Benfica for the 19-year-old’s signature, with Jorge signing a contract that’ll keep him in Turin until 2026. Juventus and Santos, meanwhile, were able to agree on a €4m fee, with the Old Lady paying €1.5m upfront, another €1.5m in 2022 and €1m in bonuses (should he amass a certain number of appearances next season).

The Brazilian club also have priority over any potential loan for the young striker. Nevertheless, Jorge is expected to go straight into Massimiliano Allegri’s first team after emerging as one of Brazil’s most exciting forward talents.

Jorge finished the most recent Copa Libertadores as his club’s top scorer, having netted five times in 12 games on the way to the final. His agent, Andrea Bagnoli, has previously compared his client to both Lautaro Martinez and Roberto Firmino.

Official announcement

Despite agreeing a deal for Jorge over two weeks ago, Juventus didn’t officially announce the 19-year-old’s arrival until Tuesday evening.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “A new talent joins the Bianconeri squad. From Brazil and in his career, he has constantly forged ahead: Kaio Jorge is a new Juventus player.

“The 19-year-old Brazilian striker, born in 2002, has signed from Santos, penning a contract until 2026.”

The club then described Jorge’s journey to Turin before concluding: “A complete striker who is also able to play for the team, he is now ready for the most stimulating of challenges: the leap across Europe to wear the Black & White of the Juventus shirt. Now ready to focus on even bigger and bigger goals and to keep growing. We can’t wait to do it together!

“Bem-Vindo, Kaio!”

First interview

Following his official announcement, Juventus released Jorge’s first interview with the club on their YouTube channel.

“I am very happy to be here, it has been my dream since childhood,” Jorge said.

“I expect to stay at Juve for a long time because it’s a great team, one of the biggest in Europe. I move around a lot on the field and have an eye for goal.”

Jorge has opted to wear the #21 jersey for the Bianconeri, and it’s obvious as to why.

“It was worn by great players here: Pirlo, Dybala, Zidane and Higuain. So I hope to score many goals with this jersey too.

“My objective is to score and help my teammates as best I can and, if God wills it, win trophies like the Champions League,” he added.
