Aaron Ramsey has suffered yet another injury setback, with reports suggesting the Welshman could miss up to three weeks of action with a suspected adductor strain.
Ramsey has had a wretched injury record throughout his career, one that has frustratingly continued since his move to Turin in 2019. Transfermarkt notes that the midfielder’s missed 18 games across two seasons at Juve due to various injuries.
His latest setback comes after he’d started the Bianconeri’s opening weekend draw with Udinese as the deepest lying midfielder, with Massimiliano Allegri experimenting with Ramsey as a regista throughout pre-season.
How long will Ramsey be out?
Ramsey was substituted just before the hour mark in Sunday’s 2-2 draw following a fairly efficient display. At the time, it didn’t appear that his withdrawal was a result of any sort of injury.
However, Juventus have since revealed that the Welshman reported a muscle problem after the contest, with a club statement confirming his thigh injury.
“Due to a muscular problem reported at the end of the match played against Udinese, Aaron Ramsey underwent diagnostic tests at J|Medical this morning, which revealed a low-grade injury to the adductor major muscle of the right thigh,” the club said.
Juve added that Ramsey will undergo further tests in ten days to “precisely define the recovery time”. Various reports suggest the 30-year-old will be out for three weeks.
Time for Locatelli
Ramsey was never going to be a long-term solution for Juve’s midfield woes, especially with the arrival of Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli. However, the Welshman’s injury will certainly fast-track Locatelli into Allegri’s starting XI.
The summer arrival made his Bianconeri debut at the weekend, as he replaced Rodrigo Bentancur in the 90th minute. Locatelli will now be expected to start Juve’s home opener against Empoli this Saturday in Ramsey’s absence.
Other injury news
Giovanni Albanese confirmed that Adrien Rabiot will return to training on Wednesday and is available for selection for Saturday’s fixture. Arthur Melo, meanwhile, is expected to return to action in mid-October after undergoing successful surgery on his leg injury in July.
Kaio Jorge has also been added to the injury list this week. Romeo Agresti (via Get Italian Football News) reported on Monday that the former Santos starlet picked up a muscle injury in training and is expected to miss a month of action. He’ll be re-evaluated in ten days.
