Oh God, not again! Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United to join Real Madrid back in 2009, the Mancunian club has been considered one of the favourites to re-sign the Portuguese phenomenon. Ronaldo may have grown old, but he remains a darling for the Manchester United devotees.

On top of acquiring Tom Heaton’s services for free this summer, United have signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. The current forward line of Man United is stacked with stars like Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Amad Diallo, Edinson Cavani, and Mason Greenwood.

The only reason Manchester United could lean towards Cristiano Ronaldo is the lack of activity provided by Anthony Martial in front of goal as of late. From a business point of view, a talismanic name like Cristiano Ronaldo would possibly bring more shirt sales, matchday revenue, and thus, money. From the sporting point of view, Ronaldo could guarantee more goals.

According to several reports, Ronaldo prefers a move back to the Premier League, and Manchester United could certainly be his next destination. But United now have a massive squad. They need to sell players regarded as surplus to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s requirements and retrieve some liquidity before beginning to dream about getting Ronaldo back to the red half of Manchester. Only then they would be able to afford Ronaldo under the current circumstances.

Obviously, there is no easy way out for the Portuguese talisman, nor has there appeared to be a lot of interest in the athlete from the suitors. Well, he could only gaze at the situation, hope for the best or denounce his destiny.
