Alex Sandro (5/10): The point of criticism regarding Alex Sandro, over the last year or two, has been that he has lost his swiftness with his growing age. And it was visible in his tepid performance against Empoli. He was going up the field. But that distinctive spark was missing in his runs. He looked too afraid of taking on Empoli midfielders and defenders down the left flank. As a consequence, he was always looking to make an easy pass sideways or gong backwards.

Leonardo Bonucci (5.5/10): Despite being a part of a defence that lost the game having conceded a scrappy goal, Bonucci was assertive with his defending. He was bold and never seemed sacred of putting his body in the line of fire. He had a good game individually, but it was far from good as far as the collectiveness is concerned.

Matthijs de Ligt (5/10): Like Bonucci, it was hard to criticise the defending of Matthijs de Ligt. Yes, there was a lack of leadership and energy while orchestrating the defence. But in an experienced side like that of Juventus, you don’t need to be always vocal if you’re Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt won four out of five ground duels. It was an unfortunate outcome followed by a lacklustre showing from the offence on Saturday night.

Juan Cuadrado (5.5/10): Cuadrado was heavily involved in Juventus’ attack on Saturday night. Occupying the right-back spot, the Colombian, using his versatility, was keen to take on Empoli defenders one-on-one. He attempted five crosses, out of which three were successful. Other than that, Cuadrado executed 44 passes with an accuracy of 90 per cent. An eye-catcher, Cuadrado was one of the very few impressive individuals for the Bianconeri.
