The natural curse to the footballing world in the form of COVID-19 hadn’t hit the world back then. The Bianconeri fans were expecting a mouth-watering display. In an attempt to make a comeback from the 2-0 deficit, Juventus hosted Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in what was their second leg for the Champions League’s first knock-out tie in 2019.

After VAR had disallowed Juve’s opening goal in the fourth minute of the match, it took just 23 more minutes for Cristiano Ronaldo to thump the ball past the Atleti custodian, Jan Oblak, to shed the first blood in the second leg.

Another header in the 49th minute from the talismanic individual extended the lead for the home side and restored the parity in the tie. The score remained the same until the 86th minute, when Ronaldo garnered an outstanding hat-trick with a spot-kick, giving Juventus an edge on the aggregate.

At the end of the 180 minutes of regulated football, Atelti saw themselves getting knocked out of the Champions League, thanks to the heroics of the so-called “CR7”. The game not only turned out to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s one of the greatest moments in the Juventus shirt but also became the club’s one of the memorable nights in the grandest stage of UEFA Champions League football.

3. First hat-trick in Serie A

Joining Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018, Ronaldo had to wait for one-and-half years to score his first Serie A hat-trick. Juventus, led by Maurizio Sarri at the time, welcomed Cagliari for a league fixture in January 2020.

Smelling blood and sensing the vulnerabilities rested in the Cagliari defence, Cristiano Ronaldo turned into a messiah for Juve in the second half of the game, opening the scoreline for the home side in the 49th minute with the help of smart movements and crafty finishing.

Marko Rog illegitimately brought down Paulo Dybala in the box, and a penalty was subsequently awarded to Juventus. Ronaldo sent it home, extending the lead on the scoreline.

One minute after Gonzalo Higuaín grabbed his first on the night, Ronaldo, unmarked on the left, balanced the ball with his right foot before guiding it into the nets. The goal helped Ronaldo register his first hat-trick in Serie A. Henceforth, from a separate viewpoint, it was special and should cut the list of his one of the best moments for Juventus.
