Juventus: 3 mistakes Bianconeri made in the summer transfer window
1. The ones considered redundant remain
A team of Juventus’ aptitude plays around 50 or more games per season. That’s why it is necessary to build a squad with two or three players for one position. It allows a team, like Juve, to comply with any adverse situation. But it doesn’t mean the club has to compromise with the mediocrity of the unnecessary players. Juventus management doesn’t agree.
Prior to the 2021 summer transfer window, it was written on the stone wall that some of the players at Juventus are not good enough to match the intensity of a Scudetto aspirant. Daniele Rugani, Alex Sandro, Mattia De Sciglio, Aaron Ramsey, and Federico Bernardeschi were all on the list of Juve’s potential exodus going into the summer transfer market. Yet, with the window passed, you find those names being listed one after another on the club’s official website.
It’s not as if Juventus didn’t cut some onus and let bodies leave in the scheduled time. But that was not enough. In terms of departures, there was a couple of loan deals, with the departure of Cristian Romero being the only permanent sale this summer.
From the outcome, there are only two reasons for Juventus to keep hold of those considered surplus to the club’s requirements. Firstly, the club genuinely wants to put faith in them and test their prowess in a different system under a different manager. Secondly, they were not attentive enough in the summer transfer market.
Letting players go means replacing them with new signings. With Juventus struggling hard to cope with the financial limitations fixed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they might have been propelled to keep praying and hoping for the best result possible.
