Juventus are experiencing a hectic run of high-octane fixtures, with AC Milan being the next opponents on their list. Following a comfortable 3-0 victory in the Champions League curtain-raiser against Malmo FF this midweek, the Bianconeri are set to host their old rivals at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Initially anticipated to be a title challenger this season, Juventus have appallingly begun their charge, obtaining just one point from three matches. As a result, they now sit 16th — two berths above the relegation zone.

On the other hand, Milan have started their campaign in the way Juventini would’ve expected from their beloved club. They have bamboozled every opponent so far, conceding just one goal and scoring seven. Despite being equal on points with AS Roma — who have garnered nine from nine points available, Milan thus sit second on the points table, due to having a slightly inferior goal difference.

A win on Sunday evening will certainly elevate their hopes for an extended run at the Scudetto this time around. Against Liverpool in midweek, the Rossoneri played well. However, they failed to win, losing the game 3-2 to the Reds of Merseyside. Using that as an incentive ahead of the match, they could boost their morale. If anything, they do have the players needed to demolish a topsy-turvy Juventus defence.

3 key players who could be useful for Milan against Juventus

Here we take a look at the three AC Milan players who could fix a plethora of enigmas in front of the Juventus rearguard to solve. Without any further ado, let us begin.

3. Rafael Leão

The more you see this boy play, the more you get astonished, isn’t that true? Well, it should be. Only 22 years of age, Rafael Leão is a youth sensation brimming with confidence on the red half of Milano. Signed from Lille in the summer of 2019, Rafael Leão has been admired as a wonderkid and generational talent ever since his days at the academy of Sporting CP in Portugal.

The Portuguese winger may not be fit to be called “generational”, but he is not feeble at all. This season, he has reinvigorated himself, scoring one goal in Milan’s second game of the 2021/22 season against Cagliari and providing an assist at Anfield on Wednesday.

Apart from bagging goal contributions, his overall game is what influenced many neutrals watching him for the first time in the Champions League. As far as the stats from FBref.com are concerned, Leão is one of the best when it comes to progressive carries.

The 22-year-old frantic runner has registered five progressive carries every game, showcasing how determined he always becomes to get the ball into the offensive areas all on his own.

Using his frenzied pace, he could take on anyone and beat them to a sprint in the blink of an eye. Danilo, who will likely face him on the right side of Juve’s defence, should be wary of his runs behind the defence because once the winger pushes his throttle hard, there is no one stopping him.
