AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has confirmed that neither Zlatan Ibrahimovic nor Olivier Giroud is ready to play a part in the weekend’s game against Juventus, meaning Ante Rebić will be designated with leading the front line for Milan.

Rebic, unlike Ibrahimovic or Giroud, is currently at the peak of his intrepidity. And if you think that keeping hold of the 27-year-old Croatian would be easier than getting a grip on those veterans, you might be wrong.

Rebic picked up his first goal of the 2021/22 season in the midweek’s game against Liverpool. That goal has certainly done some good to his confidence. Last season, Rebic was one of Pioli’s key assets, amassing 11 goals and nine assists across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

Not only does he lead the line well for the Rossoneri, but also he can play from different offensive positions, making it difficult for defenders to keep their eyes on him. He could swap positions and try to penetrate a defence from different angles. Furthermore, he has an uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time in the box.

Aerially assertive as well, Rebić is a true pain in the backside for any defender. It would apparently be a worrisome night for the defensive pairing of Juventus, thought to be the tandem of Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt. Rebic will also be looking forward to testing the defensive line lacking conviction and assurance at the moment.
