This was a missed opportunity, no doubt. Against a Milan side distinctly lacking a goal threat and forced into several defensive adjustments, many will feel that these are two points as opposed to one point gained.

The result leaves the mighty Juventus in the relegation zone; winless from their opening four Serie A encounters and amid their worst start to a league season since 1961/62. It’d be easy to be overly frustrated from Sunday night’s result.

But there’s hope. There’s a blueprint, a foundation. One that manifested to glorious effect in the opening 45 minutes against Milan. Following their comfortable victory over Malmo last Tuesday, there’s more reason for optimism after Sunday’s draw.

Without sounding like a middle-aged bloke at your local pub, Juventus remain a force when they’re “up for it”. The Rossoneri didn’t know what hit them as they were subject to a paroxysm of Juventus hunger and eccentricity in the first half. That off the ball pressure and intensity has to be retained moving forward because it facilitated their harmonious on the ball showing and helped Juve control proceedings.

Once the dust settles and the frustration slowly dissipates from the eventual result, I’m sure plenty of fans will be optimistic over their side’s next set of fixtures. Before Jose Mourinho’s Roma come to town on October 17, Juventus visit Spezia, host Sampdoria and make the short trip to Torino for the Derby della Mole. While their current form means nothing can be guaranteed, these are three fixtures that Allegri will be hopeful of taking maximum points from.

Let’s see where the Bianconeri are in a months time. Then we’ll assess whether it’s time to panic.
